A Walk to Remember

The Book “A Walk to Remember” truly lives up to its caption, as it takes the reader to an emotional walk. And the author Nicholas Sparks lives up to his words “First you will smile, and then you will cry-don’t say you haven’t been warned”.

To put it short, it is one of those “marvellous” short stories of eternal love; short-yet very profound. It is about the two teenagers Landon Carter and Jamie Sullivan, how the “Lord’s Plan” fetches them together in life; only to change the life of Landon “forever”.  Landon is part of the crowd at high school while Jamie stands out, literally. Jamie is one of those rare girls, with the rarest innocence, selfless love, kindness and an unfailing faith in Lord Christ. She takes immense pleasure in helping others. According to her, there is a Lord’s plan behind everything. On the other hand, Landon is one of those spoilt brats, who had been enjoying life with friends. Somehow, by destiny or fate, they get along, fall in love, and head towards a mystery which as it unravels, could only bring tears.

There is a perfect portrayal of characters and shifting of events, as the reader sails through the happy phase to the sad one. The narration of incidents is so very live that one can actually view/experience moments as he/she reads the book. The reader feels connected, rather than feeling it as just a story. The thoughts expressed are so deep and immense; that it leaves the reader keep pondering over and over about the mystery of life. It’s about keeping faith despite all oddities in life. That this book will make the readers move to tears and make them rethink on the purpose of life, is for sure.
